Perfumes do not just exist as women fragrances or perfumes for men but are rather classified as per their concentration. You must still be thinking of notes that complement women fragrances or the ones that are used in perfumes for men. But that’s not all!
Perfume
Not
every fragrance bottle that you grab at a scent or perfume shop is perfume. Surprised?
Well, this is a fact! We often call every other fragrance a perfume unless it’s
a mist or a deodorant. But this is not how it works.
A
perfume is a product with the highest fragrance extract or fragrance oils. As a rule, this product has up to 40% concentration
of essential oils which makes it denser than any other perfume types available.
Therefore, the product is also oilier and heavier. Due to this, this product is
just dabbed on pulse points and not applied all over the body.
Moreover,
these types of perfumes are packed into heavier strong bottles that hold up the
fragrance nicely. This product is rather an expensive choice due to its denser
concentration.
Eau de Perfume
Also
commonly-known as Parfum, Eau de Perfume
has up to 20% concentration of fragrance oils. This makes Eau de Perfume (EDP)
the second most dense type of perfume available. Therefore, the product has
more ratio of alcohol and water mixed into the oils. This makes the product
slightly lighter than Perfume, also affecting its life.
Eau
de Perfume does not last any longer than 8 to 10 hours due to its lighter
concentration than Perfume. This product due to the price range and lighter
packing is a popular choice among consumers. You will find a wide range of Eau
de Perfumes for men and women
fragrances readily available in the market.
Eau de Toilette
Lower
in concentration than Eau de Perfume, this product enjoys fragrance oils up to 15%
making it lighter in nature. This product is often used as a day to day wear by
many due to its lighter and inexpensive nature. Besides having a greater ratio
of water and alcohol, this product provides a great first impression. The
fragrance, however, fades away within 6 to 7 hours after giving a crisp burst
of fragrance.
Due
to Eau de Toilette’s short life, it is often made with a blend of sharp top
notes over mild base ones to capture attention.
Eau de Cologne
You
might just be aware of cologne for
men, but women fragrances also readily exist as colognes. One of the lightest
fragrances found colognes are hardly concentrated with 5% fragrance oils. This
makes the product inexpensive and super light to use. Therefore, colognes are
often just used as after shaving balms or instances where an instant splash of
is required. A cologne does not last any longer than just 2 hours due to its
less concentrated nature.
Eau Fraiche
Often
just used to freshen up, Eau Fraiche is as equal to scented water. The product
just has a concentration of up to 3% essential fragrance oils which makes it
extremely light. Eau Fraiche does not contain much alcohol but is rather made
by using water as a base. Due to lower fragrance concentration, the effect of
Eau Fraiche is very subtle.
High-end
brands and perfume labels majorly deal in Perfumes, Eau de Perfumes and Eau de
Toilette. Similarly, the price bracket varies from one type to another
depending upon the concentration. In the case or colognes and Eau Fraiche, high-end
brands hardly launch any collections catering to the categories.
Purchasing
a perfume is never an easy job especially when you are unaware of what your
product has in it. From fragrance families to concentrations, every factor
equally dominates the quality and longevity of the fragrance.
